Need more time in the morning? Try this 5 minute overnight oatmeal! This oatmeal took me less than five minutes to combine the night before. The next morning, I heated it up in the microwave and it was delicious, nutritious and super easy. This is a great breakfast to take on the go or to make for your kids on a rushed morning. The recipe is super easy to modify by adding different fruits or spices. Older kids can even make this for themselves the night before. It also makes a great lunchbox idea if you store it in a plastic container for easy transport.
1/2 cup of old fashioned oats
1/2 cup of low fat milk (can be substituted with coconut or almond milk)
dash of cinnamon
dash of ground all spice
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of pure maple syrup
1/2 banana sliced
pinch of salt
1. In a small mason jar (or bowl), add the sliced banana.
2. Add the oats, milk, spices, extract, salt and syrup. Mix with a small spoon.
3. Place oatmeal in fridge overnight.
