Nutley, the Nut Free Squirrel by Stephanie Sorkin is an ideal book to read during mealtime in order to teach children about allergies and improving overall awareness of food allergies.
Nutley the Nut Free Squirrel is story about a squirrel that is allergic to nuts! What will he do and how will his friends help support him?
The book is well illustrated and engaging to read for young children. It also contains important lessons about allergies (recognizing allergies and working together with your loved ones). The book includes some interesting characters such as a bee and the pelican. My kids didn’t even know that Pelicans ate fish, which they learned directly from this book. Poor Pelican was allergic to fish though….
Stephanie is passionate about using her platform as an author to raise awareness and money for charitable organizations. She is donating part of her proceeds of this book to FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education).
Check out the eggless nut free bread recipe at the end. Thank you Stephanie!
