Honest Magazine
When I saw Honest Magazine on my Instagram feed, I was immediately interested in learning more about magazine and their mission. During this pandemic, I am always on the lookout of ways that help supplement my children’s knowledge.
After receiving a review copy of this quarterly magazine, I was immediately impressed with the quality of the paper and the beautiful illustrations. The magazine is not a typical magazine in that it feels like a book you want to keep forever! I was lucky to received Issue Seven which explored facts about people who made history of ocean exploration. My ten year old son loves learning about the ocean and we read the magazine over three days. Each night we read about different explorers, places of exploration and facts about the ocean. This supplemented both my knowledge and my son’s knowledge about the ocean. After reading about Eugenie Clark, this magazine helped reinforced everything we learned when partner reading that book together.
What’s Included in Honest Magazine
This magazine is full of different activities, facts and stories. Issue Seven includes the following sections;

Learning New Vocabulary
I love the section about learning vocabulary. In the Words We Should Learn Section help teach your child new vocabulary. Words such as industrious, endangered, blueprints, distinguished, documentary, functioning and much more. What is the best way to teach new vocabulary? Use it while reading and in conversation. For example the word, endangered is an important word. This word can be used when discussing different marine life that are endangered. What are we doing to protect our endangered marine animals?
