Review and Language Tips
Hey Grandude! isn’t just a book packed with adventure, it’s also a wonderful learning tool for vocabulary, sequencing, recalling, prediction and improving basic language concepts. As you are reading this book, stop and define important vocabulary words such as compass, postcard (most kids may not know what a postcard is), scuttle, skim, gallop, horizon and much more.
Recall past events such as “First they went to the beach and now they are in the desert”. Target prediction concepts by asking your child, “Where do you think they will go next?”
This is a perfect book for role playing with your child! Purchase some postcards (or make your own) and pretend you are traveling all over the world. Where do your child want to go? To spark even more creativity, ask your child to draw their own postcards! For a template, click here.
