C is for Country..a new children’s book by Lil Nas X

January 11, 2021 by gravitybread Filed Under: Books and Mealtime, Building Self Esteem, Family Counts, Love and Friendship, Special Needs, Using Your Imagination

C is for Country

C is for Country written by Lil Nas X and illustrated by Theodore Taylor III is a vibrantly diverse alphabet book that will help teach your child new literacy concepts as well as aspects of country music and living.

From sunrise to sunset, author Lil Nas X and illustrator Theodore Taylor II will take your child on a literacy journey of running with mustangs to looking at a starry sky.

I love the opportunities for vocabulary expansion as well as an introduction to the value of family and country living. This book was written by Lil Nas X for his nieces and nephews, which adds an extra special touch to the book.

Literacy and Language Tips

As you reading C is for Country, use print referencing strategies by pointing the target letter and word. The best way to carryover these new words with your child is to use them in conversation. For example, the word boots can be used many times throughout the day when you refer to “getting dressed”. Show your child different types of cowboy boots. Which boots do they like and why? When finished reading this book, ask your child to recall their favorite part of the book. Be creative and ask your child to either draw a picture or a write a sentence or two.
