I saw this Pound Cake recipe on the back of a Bob’s Red Mill product. I figured, “Why not?”. My daughter and I baked this recipe together one afternoon. The cake came out sweet, buttery and very satisfying. I wouldn’t say it tastes exactly like standard pound cake but has its own unique flavor. What I really enjoyed about this bread was the texture. It’s a very good recipe and I will use this as my base to create some other gluten free breads…….I got the original recipe here……..
Kid Friendly Tips: Discuss what the term gluten free is with your child. Discuss the various ingredients used in this recipe and explain how they are different than standard flours. You can take both out and see if your child can guess which flours are gluten free and which one is all purpose. You can get creative with the pound cake by making it marble or given it a cinnamon flavor with with a cinnamon crumb topping. Since my own son is allergic to peanuts, sometimes I spread some no nut cocoa spread on top for an extra treat.
