Fairy Mom and Me tells the story of Ella Brook who can’t wait to grow up and be just like her mom. Her mom looks normal but she can turn into a fairy by shutting her eyes tight and saying “Marshmallow.” Ella and her mother go through countless adventures throughout the book and Ella hopes she will be a good fairy when she grows up and learn all of the right spells.  Will Ella be able to save the day when things don’t go as planned? This book is funny and engaging for ages 8 and up and can also be an excellent read aloud to a younger child. I love the Family Activity Guide that is included in the back of the book which includes discussion questions, family activities and word search activity. I really appreciated that the author included these questions in the book because they can very useful for both parents and educators.

For this blog post, I wanted to explore fairy cakes. When researching fairy cakes, I discovered all different recipes but decided to change my slightly by adding maple syrup to the cakes and making them a different shape by using my whoopie pie pans. I found this recipe to be the most useful. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
