Do you have a child 5 or younger? Are you concerned that your child is not meeting their milestones? Check out this free and informative app titled the Milestone Tracker App.

I learned about this free app in the most recent issue of the ASHA Leader, which is a wonderful resource of information for speech language pathologists.

The Milestone Tracker, which was developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can help parents determine if their child’s milestones are on track. It’s available for both IOS and Android and can help guide parents to recognize delays and connect with other health care providers. Included in this app is tons of information for parents if their child is delayed with resources to help guide them. This app was developed as part of the CDC’s Learn the Signs. Act Early Program. With this app, you can add your child’s information and track their development within the app.  The app also includes photos and videos that can help parent learn what to look for within the milestones. This app can be an excellent resources for parents who are seeking this information and can help get their child intervention earlier, which is key. However, this app is not a substitute for a comprehensive evaluation through early intervention and a special education preschool team.

For more information on learning about the signs of a communication disorder in young children, check out the ASHA campaign, Identify the Signs.
